Generalised stretched Littlewood-Richardson coefficients
In this paper we investigate Q(n) = Q λ′,μ′ (n) = P ν c(nλ + λ;nμ+ μ, ν) as a function of n and show that Q(n) is bounded above if and only if λ/μ is a partition or rotated partition. Here c(λ;μ, ν) is the LittlewoodRichardson coefficient. So Q(n) counts the number of LR tableaux of shape (nλ + λ)/(nμ + μ) or the total number of irreducible characters in the skew character [(nλ+ λ)/(nμ + μ)]. W...
متن کاملDegrees of Stretched Kostka Coefficients
Given a partition λ and a composition β, the stretched Kostka coefficient Kλβ(n) is the map n 7→ Knλ,nβ sending each positive integer n to the Kostka coefficient indexed by nλ and nβ. Derksen and Weyman [DW02] have shown that stretched Kostka coefficients are polynomial functions of n. King, Tollu, and Toumazet have conjectured that these polynomials always have nonnegative coefficients [KTT04]...

Tim Menzies Dept. of Software Development, Monash University, Australia [email protected]; http://www.sd.monash.edu.au/ timm Abstract|We are used to viewing veri cation and validation as tasks to be performed after a knowledge-base is built. In this standard view, the inference engine is built rst, the knowledge base is then lled out, then nally a test engine is added to verify or va...

متن کاملStretched exponentials from superstatistics
Distributions exhibiting fat tails occur frequently in many different areas of science. A dynamical reason for fat tails can be a socalled superstatistics, where one has a superposition of local Gaussians whose variance fluctuates on a rather large spatio-temporal scale. After briefly reviewing this concept, we explore in more detail a class of superstatistics that hasn’t been subject of many i...
